Reason #321 on why I don’t consider GM products because they insist on using stupid logic: the Volt should have become a CUV.

Yep. I would even wager that had they done this, the Volt’s EV-supported-by-generator layout would be the dominant force in the industry.
Similarly, if Tesla think s they’re doing well, imagine how well they would have done if they had skipped the Model 3 and jumped straight to the Y. I would have invested.
If you want to make inroads, you have to work for the most people under the most situations.

My neighbor’s got a Volt, and he just left on vacation for 2 weeks. We could build a working prototype while he’s gone...

He’d probably kill me because he loves that thing. H e’s not really a “ car guy” , so I think it’s cool when he get’s so excited about it.
I think GM just figured it was so good that it would sell itself so they put minimal advertising behind it. Like, they’ll spend billions to ram the same old pickup or crossover down our throat year in and year out, but when they come up with a true game changer (looking at yo u , EV-1) there’s barely a peep.
I think I’ve said this before, but GM operates on Navy logic, which probably explains why I have an irrational like for them. It’s something I can understand and relate to.

A) because it was 2010, they were in the middle of the bailout, and money is tight.
B) the volt had much more in common with the cruze that was already in production
C) the range on the first gen was only 35 miles on the volt and adding the extra front face and weight would likely reduce that to o much.

If they would have made a plug-in Orlando, I would have seriously considered it.
